My Qualifications

Instructional Designer, TCU School of Medicine

As an Instructional Designer, I am a member of the Academic Development team and work closely with multiple departments at the School of Medicine, including Admissions, Assessment, Faculty Affairs & Development, Student Affairs, Simulation, Diversity & Inclusion, and Clinical Skills.

I am the primary administrator for Canvas at the School of Medicine and am responsible for maintaining Canvas pages for all curricular courses. This includes creating, updating, and publishing courses for all 4 cohorts of students. I also work closely with multiple other teams to assist with course creation. Additionally, I serve as a curricular content creator and work closely with faculty and other subject matter experts in designing, creating, and implementing content to be utilized before and during course sessions. This includes learning modules in Articulate Rise and Storyline, form-fillable PDFs, and other curricular content.

I also serve as a consultant for the Preparation for Practice course and help coordinate and plan sessions, book rooms, create meeting agendas, research content, and arrange catering for events. I also support the Community Impact Project that students complete during their final year of medical school and help with service learning coordination and tracking.

In the Academic Development team, I assist the Assistant Director of Academic Development with creating spreadsheets to track curricular due dates, maintain the course calendars, schedule rooms, and assist with course support as needed.

Finally, I serve in several positions outside of my job duties, including in Admissions as an Audio Based Responses (ABR) rater and as a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) facilitator as part of the admissions process. As an ABR rater, I listen to student interview questions through Apply Medicine and rate their responses. For MMI events, I serve in a panel interviewing candidates for the school in 7-minute interviews via Zoom. Additionally, I am a SafeZone certified trainer through the SafeZone Initiative and help promote LGBTQ+ education at the school.

I am responsible for working with the Learning Architect to build and set up courses within the learning management system (LMS) using HTML and CSS and adhering to a strict style guide. I am also responsible for building discussion boards, assignments, quizzes, and tests in the LMS, as well as making sure the course content is displayed consistently throughout the build.
At iDesign, I also assist the multimedia team with updating PowerPoint presentations to meet style guides and ADA compliance. This includes streamlining information to be concise, updating graphics for better visual fidelity, and ensuring that charts are in a legible color spectrum.

eLearning Assistant, University of Texas at Dallas

As an eLearning Assistant, I record and edit lectures for professors in the University of Texas at Dallas system. This involves knowledge of studio setup and practices, including microphone set up, recording practices, lighting, and camera recording practices. I am also responsible for editing these lectures, which is primarily done with Camtasia. I also utilize Adobe Audition for noise correction, and Adobe Premiere for video lectures and course introductions, which involves green screen removal and color correction.
As a team lead in this position, I perform final checks on all lectures and ensure that lectures are accurately named, tracked in the studio excel sheet, and organized in the eLearning drive. I am also responsible for creating training modules for student workers on studio recording techniques and for training professors on in-office recording practices.
During COVID-19, I also served as an interim instructional designer. During this time, I built online courses in Blackboard, including learning modules, assignments, tests, and quizzes. I also assisted in creating training materials for professors to record lectures in Camtasia, including the creation of handouts and videos.
